HERO Program: HERO is an acronym that stands for Home Energy Renovation Opportunity. HERO is financed as an assessment on your property. The interest on these payments may be tax deductible. You will see a line item titled “HERO FINANCING” on your property tax bill. If you make property tax payments through an impound escrow account, your lender will adjust your monthly payment to include the amount due for HERO financing.
CaliforniaFIRST provides financing with no money down for home energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water-saving upgrades. With PACE financing, your borrowing potential is based on your home equity, and it’s repaid on your property taxes over the course of 5-30 years at a fixed rate that never rises. You can borrow up to 15% of your property value, and the balance may transfer to the new owner upon sale of the property.
